We reported yesterday that CalTrans had been trimming overgrown vegetation and cleaning culverts along Sierra Drive, California State Highway 198, as part of the State Highway Operation and Protection Program. As of this morning crews have begun to scrape problem areas in the highway’s asphalt surface and replace them with fresh pavement.
With more equipment on the roads and more extensive work now being done, delays may be longer than when brush work was being done and access to business parking lots may be temporarily blocked. A lead vehicle is being used to shepherd travelers through work zones and drivers leaving parking lots may need to wait for the procession to pass. It appears as though crews are making every possible effort to accommodate driveway and parking access.
